Our NFT history is rich and storied. As an industry, we have made remarkable contributions to human culture. But we are at a turbulent crossroad. Repeatedly, stories are lost as API-based metadata servers are shutdown and communities are abandoned.
We believe this is an immeasurable loss to the greater heritage and story of our industry and is a direct result of the current practices as an NFT industry.
Pob Studio presents Preserve. Our intention is to play a small part in saving these stories. We are doing this by putting NFT metadata on decentralized storage solutions where these stories will not be lost.
Goals with metadata preservation
- Transparency + uncensorable data should be easily accessible, replicable, provably accurate, and uncensorable.
- Decentralized metadata should not be dependent on continued existence of Pob Studio for continued preservation.
- Performant experiences from preserved metadata; how you enjoy your metadata should be as performant as decentralization allows.
- Compliant standardized metadata should enable preserved metadata to be easily used in any NFT contract.

How to view your token metadata
- Find your preferred ipfs gateway, ex: https://dweb.link
- In your browser set up the link as https://dweb.link/ipfs/bafybe...dop6mi/
- Head to OpenSea or your preferred NFT viewer of your choice and find the token ID of a NFT.
- Add the token ID to the end of the link: https://dweb.link/ipfs/bafybe...dop6mi/tokenID
- Visit the link and you should see the raw output of your metadata. We recommend JSON prettier chrome plugins to view the metadata more easily.

Little editorial notes from a studio team member.
This is an effort from the studio this is very near and dear to my heart. Metadata is commonly swept under the rug as an after thought, where I strongly believe it should be in the spotlight. NFT's stories begin and grow from their metadata. To lose the metadata would really be losing the NFT, the stories, the impact, and the heritage.
